Why I’m Not Interested in a 9-to-5 Job People often ask me why I’m not drawn to the idea of a corporate or traditional 9-to-5 job. The answer isn’t just one thing—it’s a mix of how I think, how I feel, and how I want to live my life. I hate sitting in the same place for too long. I’m just not built for long hours at a desk, staring at a screen. It drains me. I want to explore. New places, new experiences, new ideas—I crave variety and discovery in my everyday life. I want to be creative. Routine work doesn't excite me. I want the freedom to create, to build, and to express myself in different ways. I don't want to work under anyone. Not a company, not a boss. I want to build something of my own, on my own terms. I need flexibility. My mood, my interests, and my energy shift often. I want to schedule my time and space based on how I feel, not on a fixed clock. I value breaks. If I feel overwhelmed or need time to recharge, I want the freedom to pause, reset, and grow without guilt. I enjoy slow moments. There are times when doing nothing but sipping a cup of tea or coffee brings me joy. And I want to honor those moments without fear or hesitation. To some, these may seem like excuses or signs of weakness. But for me, they’re the exact reasons I know I need to follow a different path. I want to turn these so-called “flaws” into strengths. They aren’t problems I refuse to change—they’re part of the life I’m intentionally choosing to create.
